hey guys, as I was browsing through city commision agendas, I noticed an interesting item on the agenda for tonight. Looks like Ken Jenne is going to be taking over another radio system. Hollywood, now Fort Lauderdale, anyone else?

It doesn't say anything about BSO taking over. It states it gives the authorization to "link them together in a SmartZone configuration"
and approves using $445,222.00 in a sole-source purchase to Motorola.

From my understanding, the Fort Lauderdale's radio system will become site 4 of the Broward County radio system. What has been officially stated is that from January 17-20, Motorola will be reprogramming all radios department wide in a temporary transition phase as Motorola rebuilds the system. When it was originally scheduled back suring Hurricane Wilma, they said it would be approximately two weeks after that that the final reprogramming would occur. After rebuilding, Fort Lauderdale Fire units dispatch & one tactical channel will have coverage countywide. Kind of interesting seeing as before 1998 FLFR was originally dispatched and using the county's radio system, then they became unhappy with it and went to their own, now they're going back again.

Yep that is pretty much they way its going to be configured. According to my contact in Ft. Lauderdale not too many of the Ft. Lauderdale TG's are going to have wide area coverage though. Just as well being the BSO system is so busy it probably couldn't take the extra traffic.

They've started bringing radios over to 5A which is the dispatch channel for FLFR, but with the new system id of 1F25, the Broward TRS ID, as opposed to the old Ft. Lauderdale system ID. The talkgroups and frequencies remain the same, just now they are site 4 of the Broward system.
