• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I bought this radio around a year and a half ago. Soon after I noticed the problem. With the volume at its absolute minimum when scanning, all is good. But, if I stop scanning to monitor traffic, after a certain amount of time, the audio jumps to wide open. Then I have to either start scan again or power cycle to get the volume back down. Sent the radio back to btech, they couldn't replicate the problem but sent a new radio anyway. New radio does the same thing. Ok, so I made a new codeplug, still does it. Even downloaded a widely used codeplug from a local group and still have the problem. Any ideas?

I guess I give up. I'll just have to leave it on scan with the channel I want and one dead frequency. I even created a totally new code plug from scratch and it still does it.

Firmware update, perhaps? The latest one was released 7/7/2020 and is version 2.03.

I just ordered one yesterday, so I can't offer any other suggestions yet. I was just browsing the forums to see what fun I can look forward to with this radio.
I just noticed that, as of May (2021), the 2.04 software/firmware/etc. package is available for download... I was told there are some bug fixes, but not sure their specific nature.

I'm updated to the 2.04 and still have the problem. It doesn't matter what channel it's on, if it sits parked on any channel for a few minutes I have to change channels and go back to get the volume back to normal. The only way to keep it from happening that I've found is have both main and sub band on with the other on a fairly quiet channel. I've gave up on it. I've tried everything. Even got a new radio.
