Btln Ch 7 in Ocean City?

Over the past several weeks I've been hearing a Battalion Chief 7 responding to calls, mostly in West OC. This is a different format from the normal Chief 750, Chief 751, etc. that I've always heard from the OCFD. The appearance of BC7 seems to have followed the appearance of Paramedic 7, another call that I hadn't heard before this summer. I'm assuming there's a connection. Can someone please explain why there's a chief responding to Ocean City calls whose ID doesn't follow the Chief 7xx format?
