• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

That “waveform” is 30-512Mhz band operation.

Original RF-900P was going to support 30-512mhz.

It is possible it would only support just the lowband portion which I would guess would allow it to be type accepted.

VULOS is loosely used. VHF-UHF LOS which generally groups the full 30-512mhz section.

What was the 900P actually going to support? No one will be ever know.

For as little as the spec sheet for a nonexistent radio is worth... they didn't include 30-90Mhz so I'm interested what sort of rumors hinted at that frequency range being included. I still have my PRC-68B for the low VHF range. My take was that they weren't going to worry about 30-90 MHz in the Falcon 3. The attached brochure's first page says "Interoperable with both Harris Falcon multiband tactical radios and P25-compliant public safety radios" so other higher frequencies could satisfy that definition.

Never saw a real one. Don’t think they ever made it to actual production.
It was ish.

Per the government rule of two. Harris and Thales both created triband public safety radios for bidding.

Thales released the Liberty in Spring of 2008 and Harris with the XG100P in Fall of 2008.

Remember the RF5800 was originally produced by Thales until Harris completed testing of the Falcon II lineup in which the RF5800 started the form factor for the FALCON III series.

Its a whole mess of government bids and contracts.

I also think the RF-900 was scrapped because it would not get FCC type acceptance as MIL radios are not.

100% not accurate. Liberty was created from a DHS S&T grant to create a multi band public safety radio. The XG 100 was created to compete with the Liberty. Harris was upset that they did not get any money for development so they went to DOJ to get some grant funding for pilots.

Neither of these were created for any RFP, RFQ or anything out there to bid against each other.

There was a significant time difference in a Liberty hitting the street and an XG 100 hitting the street. The XG 100 was announced once the liberty was already on the street.

Harris was a major force back then in mil combat radios (still are) and the current company was fairly new to LMR and I remember seeing the Liberty at an AFCEA show long before the XG-100P. I can't find anything that even hints the RF-900P was ever going to be a 30-512MHz radio, it had to include 700/800 to compete with the Liberty and friends of mine at Harris say they started with a PRC-152 and gave up the low band then added 700/800. The XG-100P was also the first LMR type radio designed by the Harris Rochester, NY mil radio group and not the old GE/Ericsson/TYCO/MA Com group. Of course Harris did LMR many years ago but that's ancient stuff.

It sure seems to bother you despite having “no dog in the fight”. Nor are you ever going to buy any XP-100s are you?? I mean it’s great that you are never ever fooled by any eBay listings but I think my first post said something like “attention newbies” and that ain’t you, right?

Again, thanks for your opinions……
You started the thread. You did the equivalent of "keyword spamming".
BUYER BEWARE like someone was selling an empty box. Not the case at all.
Just a typical capitalist engaged in Ebay capitalism is all I saw. A puff piece indeed, but hardly a ripoff attempt as you assert.
Don't like my response? Do as you want others to do. But like you said, it is a discussions forum so....
