• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Within about 10 seconds of powering on the radio, hit your zone down button 5 times. That button on almost any modern Motorola handheld enters a diagnostic mode which displays the above information.

Reading all this cements my opinion that Motorola themselves create the problem of people going around the system and trading software. I remember from the 80s when one of the largest users of Saber and Spectra radios in the US would send broken radios in for repair that their radio shop could not fix, and they would come back from Motorola with newer software causing the customer to buy newer versions over and over throughout the lifespan of the radio. It was ridiculous.

You would think with the downhill spiral Motorola has taken over the years they would change their tactics. They do make good products, but competition is NOT what is was in the 80's. The loss of Motorola sales in my area because of the company itself (not the products) and the costs associated is high . Even depot repair is getting ridiculous, for minor service even.

Turn radio off and then back on. Press side button right above PTT 5 times , should go into service mode. Display will cycle through various parameters. To reset, turn off and back on.

But we should all do the right thing and buy the $250 software directly from Motorola rather then the $20 copy on Ebay.

Ok. I tried that. What I have in front of me right now at home is an XTS 5000. Our Purple button is our keypad lock. the other two side buttons are zone up and down and then of course the PTT.

Press the button with two dots on it five times upon Power up and the radio will go into Service Mode. Threre it will go through and display Model #, Serial #, Flashcode etc.

The small public safety depts around me buy the software from Motorola, not Ebay. The hobbyists that dub around with Motorola equipment buy their software off Ebay.

Better up your $250 dollar amount for a 3 year subscription by the way.

When Moto software goes the way of Harris and Kenwood and is registered to your device, and only one device, you will.
Lets see. Moto only gave out DMR wide band EID's to people with paid subscriptions. Took a few weeks until someone smarter than me figured out how to work around that.

Yup, and that's all gone now.

I doubt RR or the Batboard will allow open posting of EID workarounds, and there certainly isn't anyone skilled enough at Austech to do it on their own.

What's the part number for the downloadable version of TRBO CPS? I go into the pages for XPR5550 and 7550 and into software and nothing is there.

When I search for the DVD version (RVN5115), I can see it. But I can't find the downloadable version to add to my cart.
