The VHF radios installed in Sierra District vehicles are used to communicate with local and federal agencies, not because of the northwestern districts use of VHF. With the Sierra District using VHF radios for communications with other agencies, is it not possible that other districts are doing the same?

Not hugely significant in the grand scheme of things, but as of yesterday 1/1/13, the California Department of Fish and Game was renamed the "California Department of Fish and Wildlife."

"Traditionally known as game wardens, the department’s law enforcement staff will now be called wildlife officers."

Similar to the permissive change from CDF to CAL-FIRE, the enabling legislation for this mandatory change controls costs by prohibiting immediate changes to all the agency's signs, uniforms, and other materials.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently changed the name of their law enforcement officers from "Refuge Officer" to "Wildlife Officers."

I'm glad that Fish and Game, now wildlife, did not try to come up with some type of "Cal" name like "Cal Wild" or some such.

MANY DPR vehicles in the state have second radios, mainly for the local Sheriff. SLO units have UHF radios for the SO, Plumas-Eureka park has VHF for the SO, and many more.
