Just curious, why would you want to listen to a store? like who cares?

Different people like to listen to different things, as more and more agencies go encrypted the listening habits of many have changed. There are lots of things mentioned here that make me say "HUH?", but I have learned to realize different strokes for different folks.

Similar to the "news media" if it Bleeds it Leads, so if it emits RF we search and find

As to why? Heck the local mall radios went wild the other night near me.
Mall Sec, Mall Maint, individual stores - more info from that than the PD/FD/EMS/State, Swat etc that also rolled.

you ask why ? How about why do you listen to what you do ? Fire/EMS ? listening to other people experiencing problems ?
someone might say "sick mind" - we each bring something different to this hobby of Radio Monitoring.

The Chehalis, WA WalMart is so cheap they use FRS radios, not even GMRS. It's kind of funny actually, when their lines are so blasted long all you have to do is get on the radio and say, "All available cashiers to the front end.". ;)

And yes, all sorts of things are interesting to people for all different reasons.

When I first got my radio any and all transmissions I received were exciting, whether it was a police officer, a bus driver, or two old amateur operators talking about the good old days.

My thing, of course, is tracking radio ID's for nearly 1000 state troopers. Boring as hell to a lot of people, and they've told me, which is fine!

Why would I invest hours and hours into being able to associate a badge number that means pretty much nothing with a certain radio? Who knows? It's how I want calls to show up and once I've gotten myself squared away, I share it. Most people aren't interested and I get that, but maybe they monitor agencies that I couldn't care less about.

LOL my electronics teacher in high school used to go near McDonald's and put in a bunch of fake orders on their headsets.

If anyone says I have a sick mind purely due to the fact that I’m a first responder with a radio, they have no business saying I have a sick mind, because they haven’t experienced how sick it really is

havenBTS,

But there was nothing better than modifying a Pro-2004 or similar scanner to listen to analog cell phone calls!

and that is illegal, immoral, and very entertaining. i would never be caught doing it, and i wasn't !
