I just installed a Yagi 800 mhz. antenna with a 40 foot run of LMR400 cable, but due to the way we ran the cable we came up about 15 feet short. Is there any loss of reception when I add the remainder using high quality n-style male to the n-style female? Thanks.

Whenever there's a break in the cable, there is always loss, though in this case, I don't think it will hurt you that much.

Don't worry about an N to N connection (other then the cost)

Ordinarily a splice will introduce a lumped impedance upsetting standing waves on the line, a reflection, increased SWR and signal loss. N and connectors and their smaller cousins BNCs are constant impedance devices and introduce no appreciable lumped impedance unlike the common PL-259.
