I have lots of question on the above county's.
1. In Calhoun county I'm hearing "skip" or does the FD truly share the channel with road department?
2. In Union County I hear a lot of police traffic on 155.580000 that was list on FCC frequencies as Smackover and is DMR. What department/channel is this?
3. What is the frequency for the med helicopter based in El Dorado?
4. El Do PD has a North rerpeater and South Repeater listed, I never hear any traffic on the South Repeater, am I missing something?

Thanks for everyone's help, I am new to the area and just trying to make heads and tails of the area channels.

The sheriff’s office and ProMed Ambulance share the CCSO MOTOTRBO channel. The road department and fire departments use the analog channel.

2. In Union County I hear a lot of police traffic on 155.580000 that was list on FCC frequencies as Smackover and is DMR. What department/channel is this?

155.58 is the Smackover tower for the Union County Sheriff’s Office system. UCSO has 9 MOTOTRBO towers throughout the county that use IP site connect to broadcast traffic over all the repeaters simultaneously. The Smackover police deparetment is dispatched by the Sheriff's office, but you will hear all Smack PD and SO traffic on that frequency since they share the same talkgroup.

3. What is the frequency for the med helicopter based in El Dorado?

Survival Flight does not have a dedicated radio channel in Union Co. They are primarily dispatched via phone from their dispatch center in Batesville. However they do have a AWIN radio mounted in aircraft that runs through their Technisonic system. They also have a Motorola DMR/analog portable that has all of the public safety frequencies for the area. Primarily you will hear the pilot on the KELD (Goodwin Field) airport CTAF/unicom frequency which is 123.0

4. El Do PD has a North repeater and South Repeater listed, I never hear any traffic on the South Repeater, am I missing something?

The El Dorado PD has a 2 site MOTOTRBO system which is similar to the UCSO system. Any traffic from the North repeater is also being broadcasted over the South repeater simultaneously via IP site connect. The south repeater is located on top of the Beech Street water tank so the range is limited compared to the North repeater.

WOW Thank you for the quick reply and through answers!

I find it incredible that the FD and Streets dept share the same channel! Welcome to small town backwood living.

Calhoun So/Promed is secure to my understanding?

Calhoun Co is about as rural as it gets. And yes Calhoun Co runs basic privacy on Mototrbo. I wouldn't call it secure by any means but it mutes most scanners.

I note 154.8675 is listed as a repeater at Chidester, Bearden, Camden, and Stephens on KCP588 along with the others - do you know how that is used?

They are receive only weather sirens. The county received a grant for the weather sirens and went the extra mile and just bought repeaters and licensed the site as a repeater site. The county has never turned the repeater option on.

I see - so only 155.04 is used - to key the siren at the remote locations, right?
