Browsing through the FFC database last week I came upon a license, WRPF858 issued in 2022 to the city of Morristown, TN. Checking the Radio Reference database for Hamblen Co, Morristown, there's no mention or listing of this new P25 system.

It is active. I had to drive north the other day and found data on a control channel 769.5026 with and NAC of 2A0h. Driving back south last night if logged several TG's some in the 15200, 49000, 50700 range. Specifically 15215, 49001, 49013, 49022, 50701 &, 50702. It was very late and I'd been driving for 11 hours so I stayed briefly but had to leave as I still had another hour and half drive to home.

For those of you in that area with a P25 capable scanner have at and have fun IDing these and I'm sure additional TG's.

Licensed to the city of Morristown? That's just plain weird. Okay then, disregard and carry on.
Yes, as more counties and municipalities adopt the system and seek broader coverage, they often fund their own sites and obtain their own licenses. However, there are some exceptions. In East Tennessee, for example, various entities manage different sites and licenses. In Middle Tennessee, some TACN sites are even licensed under the "Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation." The Knox Simulcast sites are licensed to the "Knox County Emergency Communications District," which also operates its own controller. This license, along with the frequencies and sites, dates back to a 5-site Motorola 800 MHz Analog Trunking System from the 1980s. Additionally, many sites are licensed to the State of Tennessee, with some licensed to the Tennessee Valley Regional Communications System (TVRCS), though this is less common.

Where I moved from the Statewide system is licensed to the state. This was new to me. Any clue what the Morristown Police are using?

They are on TACN, and their primary talkgroup has encryption enabled in their radio settings. I am not sure if the Sheriff's Office still shares a channel with the Morristown Police, but there are a few encrypted talkgroups that frequently appear. Either 49001 or 49013.

I guess that's a different way to fund and manage a statewide system. Was just different to me. Thank you for the info.

FYI, there's no listings in Radio Reference for the Morristown PD. Zero. I did receivev hits on 49001 and 49013 the other night. No audio, just stop on those TG's when active. Whether encrypted or not I'd think they have the TG's listed in RR. Also of note the Pine Brook site only lists 2 of the 6 frequencies licensed for that site. Thoughts on that?

Morristown PD and Hamblen Co SO are on different talkgroups. Both of which are full time encrypted.
