When Montgomery County, MD Police went from an analog system to Phase II Sim Trunked system I bought a Uniden Bearcat SDS100. That solved the problem. Now they seem to have changed to some other system, and my Bearcat - nor Broadcastify - can seem to pick them up. Can you look into this and give me some advice on what to replace my present unit with so I can pick them up?

There is a lot of encryption for police in MontCo MD, and appears several of these were changed over past 5 months or so. If this is indeed the issue, you’ll need to trade your sds100 for a badge, gun, uniform and department issuesd radio.

The county police, and I assume most municipal police departments elected to encrypt their radio traffic a few months ago. You cannot decode their encryption unless you have a radio configured by the county with the proper encryption keys installed.

Are you still able to receive fire? If you are, it isn't a scanner problem.
