I'll throw this out there. Try increasing your Hold Time from zero to +5 seconds.

Hey guys.

Tried both your suggestions, still have no reception on the radio. I was sitting with one of my buddies and his radio was chatting away crystal clear. Even after I left mine still sat silent.

I ended up biting the bullet, I’ve ordered a Mini USB 5 pin to RS232 Serial cable so I can hopefully Master/Slave clone off his tomorrow.

Once that’s done I’ll likely download the scanner’s programming and compare it to mine to see where I was wrong.

In the mean time if anyone else has further suggestions they’d be greatly appreciated…

Thanks!

Took another look at your screenshots. Noticed on page 2, that there are 3 talk groups locked out.
Those wouldn't be the areas your trying to listen too?

Another observation, on page 4 I noticed you entered LCN numbers.
Try changing those all to 0, see what if any difference that makes.

Why don't you read the friend's scanner (assuming it is a 996 or 325) into Freescan then upload that programming into yours?

I suspect it is likely simulcast distortion, but if your friend has the same scanner, same antenna, same location and his works then this is how you would be sure it is not your programming.

I didn't expect the scanner to work if we were sitting beside each other - we work different sides of our town, there's no way they're interfering. Also, my friend is the same as me - his scanners allow him to make money, no way he'll let me take it out of his truck to Download. Like I said earlier, gonna try a Master/Slave clone tomorrow and then download and review.

The Talkgroups I have locked out are the ones I dont want to listen to. The most important talk group for my service area will be 2055, which I've kept open, but I want to scan the others too.
The LCN numbers I believe are just the order which the site frequencies are listed, I doubt that will change any function.

You will need to enter the band plan MANUALLY in the scanner. Using the software won't work... I had the same issue.
Does it make a difference? I checked the band plans in the scanner and they all look the exact same as they did in the program. To resolve curiosity, I will go into the scanner later and manually re-enter all of the King city site band plan and see if it makes a difference.

So more bad news. For some reason his scanner and my scanner won’t master slave clone. I just keep getting errors.

Starting to think it’s not meant to be - I either need to pay someone to bring my scanner to the guy who won’t answer my phone to program it or give up on scanning MTO.

Is it possible that the scanner firmware needs to be updated and that would be causing the issue? I’ve never updated firmware on any of my scanners

Anyone have any more ideas before I give up?

There's been a few people with bandplan issues. You may need to enter it manually.

Code:
  Bandplan #0: Base=136.005 Offset=-4.02 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5
  Bandplan #1: Base=136.005 Offset=-4.02 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5 Slots=2
  Bandplan #2: Base=136.005 Offset=-4.05 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5
  Bandplan #3: Base=136.005 Offset=-4.05 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5 Slots=2
  Bandplan #4: Base=136.005 Offset=-2.235 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5
  Bandplan #5: Base=136.005 Offset=-2.235 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5 Slots=2
  Bandplan #6: Base=136.005 Offset=-2.145 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5
  Bandplan #7: Base=136.005 Offset=-2.145 Spacing=7.5 BW=12.5 Slots=2
  Bandplan #12: Base=769.000 Offset=+30 Spacing=6.25 BW=12.5
  Bandplan #13: Base=769.000 Offset=+30 Spacing=6.25 BW=12.5 Slots=2
  Bandplan #14: Base=851.0625 Offset=-45 Spacing=6.25 BW=12.5
  Bandplan #15: Base=851.0625 Offset=-45 Spacing=6.25 BW=12.5 Slots=2
If I was to enter these manualy, how do I enter the offset?
my 536 does not have a place for the offset

Skip that part. Looking at my 536 and 325, they both have band plans like the picture in post #8 and I listen to MTO on both scanners.

You may be on to something. There was problems with P25 Band Plans in the BCD 996P2 which was fixed with firmware v1.07.07 back in 2017. What version are you using now?
Find that by going to Settings and scroll until you see Scanner Info. From what I read online, they are currently up to v.1.11.03 from 2024.
