Not an option with the EFJ5100 5300 we run

Is it really not an option, or is it something the radio techs haven't figured out? Back when we first migrated to an 800 P25 system, the radio techs swore we couldn't scan both the trunked system and the conventional simplex channels at the same time. Then they were shown how to set it up.

I do notice in OFT there is no option to select on/off for Pri ID Scan & cannot select P-Ch either. Wonder why you not able to select them?

I am the radio tech for the department and had several phone calls with EFJ Factory support.

It simply seems like the Unidens "trunked priority scan" is unable to read the subaudible or control channel data while monitoring an active talkgroup, like a "real radio". It would be hopeful that uniden, with software defined radio, could add this function, unless there is some proprietary licensed technology involved. On my 996's, on analog trunked receive, you can litterally hear the trunking growl really low in the background, most audible right after the channel drops.

Uniden did upgrade the firmware to decode the user ID in the slow speed background signalling so it seems they should be able to also extract the info about what talkgroups are active on other frequencies that are transmitted in the same datastream. Maybe it's already a part of Upmans long term plan and we have to wait for him to return to his desk. But adding free features doesn't bring money to the table so Uniden must have new products to sell that probably needs Upmans all attention. The SDS500 haven't been announced yet and no peripherals have been seen for the extra USB port.
