• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all well. I havre just subscribed to this forum and it's the first message I ever post so sorry in advance if I write in the wrong directory or anything. Unfortunately I have got some issues that I need to fix quite urgently so I couldn't take the time to read all the informations available yet...

I am working for a race team and we are now doing a project for a customer that came with his own radio system, exclusively made of Kenwood products. I am used to Motorola devices and they're no secret for me anymore, however I have never worked with Motorola so far. The problem is that his equipment is partly incomplete as he doesn't have any programming cable, in the past he always called an external company whenever he needed help.

Luckily, one of my colleagues has a compatible cable for these radios, in addition to the licenses for some of the Motorola softwares. Thanks to this, we are able to reprogram all the NX-320-E3. But despite using what I think his the appropriate software for those, the KPG-D3SL, impossible to even read what's in the other models, that's to say Motorola NX-3320 E2 and E3. Our programming cable is a KPG-22U and I believe the devices are recognized as I an get some of their information when I press the button "Transceiver Information". But whenever I press "Read Configuration", I got an error message saying "Reading data from this transceiver is not permitted".

Does anyone know why I get this ? Could it be gthat the devices are protected by a password or any other form of encryption ? That would be a bit strange as all equipment was used simultaneously before but who knows...I hope you can help me (us), I can obviously give you more information if necessary. Thanks in advance and have a nice day !

KPG D3 European software to read and write to the radios.
KPG-22U (two pin) is correct.
Confirming its a nx-3220 E model?
US software won't read those, but we can try to navigate you as best as possible.

Thanks for your answer ! I am trying to reprogram some Kenwood NX-3320 E2 and 3320 E3 radios (not 3220 but it seems they are both covered by the KPG D3 software). I can't find exactly what version of the software I am using but I believe it is the European one as...I am in Europe and the other languages available are Spanish, German, French etc (probably wouldn't be the case for the US). Could it be some sort of issue with the license ? It was given to me by a colleague but I didn't have any issue activating it, it went very smoothly, as expected.

You can go to the about menu and see what version your software is and what radios it will function with.

(Photos are US version and for illustration purposes)

Good morning, thank you for your answer ! This is what I get with this :

KPG-D3SL.png

It seems like I should be able to reprogram these NX-3320 radios with the software but somehow it is not working, do you think they might be protected with some sort of password ? Thank you !
