The 2011 CARMA Picnic will be held on the palatial grounds of Aviation World-ORD, 596 N York Road, in Bensenville on Saturday, August 13. We will start around 1100 or so and go thru whenever the last of us leaves.
Due to this we are going to cancel the regularly scheduled August 12 "Friday Nighter".
Aviation World will allow us full access to the lot and lawn and provide picnic tables and restroom facilities. Feel free to set up some reasonable radio equipment, lawn chairs etc.
The Aviation World store is strategically located on the west edge of O'Hare Airport, and provides a great place to watch planes, trains and automobiles due to the CP Rail tracks along York Road. The scanner activity in the area is non-stop!
CARMA is also inviting members of the Bensenville-ORD Airport Watch to join us. Several CARMA members are also members of B-ORDW, so please come out and meet-greet.
This will be basically a BYOG (Bring your own grub) event. I will bring my gas grill, a cooler full of pop and water as well as some burgers etc. If members want to coordinate vittles please let me know.
To get to the store go south on York Road from Higgins or north from Irving Park, it is on the corner of Foster and York, almost halfway between Higgins and Irving Park Roads.
