On this page: North Carolina VIPER Counties Verified; Carteret County says this:

Law Enforcement and EMS, Atlantic Beach PD 100% VIPER, VHF is patched fulltime to VIPER

So, They have been digital for some time.

They are moving to their own 800 system at some point. Not sure the timeline or any details on it. If no one can come up with info, I should be out that way in about a month and will do some searching. See if there is any P25 activity on 854.0125, 854.2625, 854.5125, 856.0375, or 856.7625.

I presume, the move would be. Due in part, to the cost of using VIPER?

It's been quiet the last couple days. Did they finally go digital?

The Sheriffs dispatch has gone totally silent. Fire and EMS is really scratchy (heavy static) for me as if they stopped using the repeater at Stacy. It's hardly worth trying to make out what they're doing. I've been looking for info too, but coming up short.
