• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Echo boards have been popular for a long time. I have a fake ping module which is just a basic ocsillator built dead-bug style on a dual op-amp IC. It's installed in the aforementioned RD104 I use.

Late to the thread. Enjoyed the nostalgic nature.
I had a neighbor Maurice who got me into monitoring local emergency services in 1972 and a year later CB. It was loads of fun during my teens. First rig was a used Midland 1023-B I got for Christmas.

When I used to make trips south to my folks, would put a Uniden 510XLT in the car or just brought a scanner along to monitor ch.19. After they passed sold off the CB.

Like CItywide173 related the new President II line sounds interesting. Maybe after Christmas?

Is any manufacturer making an FCC Part 95D complaint radio that is AM/FM/SSB, yet?

It would seem to me that the ultimate CB radio would be AM/FM/SSB and have PL/DPL on FM mode.

Somewhere. I'll try to dig it up.

Edit: I can tell you though it used an older quad op amp IC that was popular in older musical instruments, synths and keyboards, etc but is NLA now. I think it only used 2 of the 4 and I thought about trying to recreate it with some newer discreet SMT transistors.

Agreed. A bonus would be a radio which would come with full schematic and service manual, optional would be fine. I stopped buying any radio which does not have service docs because I'm tired of throwing away something for a minor problem.

Something like this, then?

MARS/CAP solves the problem?

Get days away from home and consider serious societal problem potentials . . .

Do I hear these (type) run mobile on 27-MHz?
Sure do.

What matters? Getting home to family from a great distance, or being self-handicapping?

— If one knows how to use such, then let him prepare himself. He may be of service to others also in need.

The number who will much care about FM (or complications within) is vanishingly small.

— Questions about services need to include all family vehicles and establishing base stations operable by all adults. That’s the point of departure. Full coverage: any vehicle or household can communicate via CB at a high level of performance (only then do these other questions apply).

Schematic #1 is a visual aid of how any given radio is operable (call it switch positions and settings). Stress aids (the only ones which actually matter).

No reply requested for reasons obvious, . . and that I ain’t taking a crap atop the desire expressed.

Bet it has an interesting ping with that +3 on it. I love those mics and their sound.
Whats funny is you can tune the ping to what you want. Its totally based on the feedback and the delay of the receiver muting when you
punch the transmit key - you have an internal and external speaker or you can run both - Pointing the mic a various directions make different
feedback squeals along with the capacitor that delays the relay from cutting out the reciever when transmitting. Even the RF gain changes the
feedback along with tuning the VFO. I run a Turner +3 more on AM and the Turner 750 for SSB I put a phoney 776 sticker on it to make it look
Cooler. Kind like Puting a Cobra sticker on a stock mustang to make it go faster !
Its old school but putthing a little Noise making circuit board in line with the mic Aint the same thing !

The Dedicated Dx Rig for CH38 is a Galaxy Saturn with A Water Fall tapping off the receiver. the Eagle 3 is more for local talking.
The Big Backlite knob in the box is a Band Spread tapping off the clarifier with a 10 K wire wound Pot.
