I recently acquired 2 Moto CDM1550LS+ VHF radios. One has Model 6AN the other a 5AN I managed to successfully program the 6AN with CPS 6.04.00 but cannot read the 5AN as it says "UNSUPPORTED MODEL"...is there a way around this or am I hooped? Would make an awful expensive door stop, so any and all advice would be appreciated. I have no idea what version it was originally programmed with.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My bet is that your version of the radio software is too old to be able to read the other radio. I believe that the current version is R06.12.05 that is available from Motorola.

Im going to go with Jim on this one. I had the same problem with the software being to old to write the radio when it was written with the new release. Look under the Utilities menu on the radio, it may tell you the version of software it was written with if was set up that way. PM me Jay.

Managed to get the radio to read, the mic connector had a loose prong on it and the computer was misreading the radio. I have successfully repaired the issue and now have a functional radio. Since everyone suggested getting new software, after my success I upgraded using my MOL account and now have R06.12.05 on both computers. Thanks boys for your help.
