I have a multi-tier cell phone tower within 200 yards of my home witch interferes with my scanner. To monitor the 800Mhz band (e.g., police frequencies) I must sit on my front porch, placing the house between the scanner and the cell tower to receive transmissions.

Is there a way to block the RF emissions from the tower? What I really want is a receiver built like the police use without transmission capabilities. Sure, such a "receiver" would be expensive. But, I'm willing to pay the price for good reception.

Any ideas?

If you're good enough with a solder gun you could always replace the internal band pass filters for better ones, I would throw a cellular filter in there and while your at it get a better VHF mid-band filter in place of the stock one. It's been done before and I think there's actually a thread on RR somewhere where someone did that. You could also put filters between the antenna and the mount.
