Centereach FD repeater on public frequencies? - need help

I would say yes, some combination of field units and the repeater are incorrectly or sloppily programmed by whatever contractor did the work for Centereach.

Interesting thread. If this is the case, it just seems incredible that a contractor could possibly be that inept. The CFD's and GMRS repeater's inputs aren't even remotely close.

No Duplexer, MTR2000, I can't tell you antenna make, but its 10.5dB gain.

Go up to the site and watch the input of the MTR and see if it is hearing it. I doubt it is. I think the scanner is somehow getting a harmonic, seeing it is receiving the entire repeater, not just a mobile input or maybe a relay point. Open up the input pl of the MTR for a few minutes if you have those programming capabilities. Easy enough to do. Or like mmckenna said, program a real radio, or a GRE scanner (different IF) with the input frequency. I have cheap Chinese radios that have better front ends than some of my Motorolas or Kenwoods. No lie.

I will assume your scanner test setup is using the same or similar antenna's to capture the traffic. Based on your video, I'm gonna wager its not intermod or a image, and its not rebroadcasting.

If it were an intermod or image, unless you were sitting on top of the transmitting unit there would be some noticeable signal degredation. Additionally, based on your monitoring of both their authorized input and the GMRS 467.725 input, if *I* were in your position without further information, I would say yes, some combination of field units and the repeater are incorrectly or sloppily programmed by whatever contractor did the work for Centereach.

My only suggestion would be to capture another series of events with *clear* traffic on 467.725, *AND* the repeated output on the 476.8625 repeater output.

How exactly are you getting by with no duplexer?

I have two antenna's. 1 transmit and 1 receive. 15 feet vertical separation.

in 24hrs I havent seen anything from the Fire House on that frequency and coming back today to test I caught a 12:12pm announcement.

Is 462.725 a shared frequency ?

This issue intrigued me.. so I set up a few Software Defined Radios to sit on some of this spectrum...
The 462.725 frequency (or very very close to it) had people discussing parking vehicles, not enough space for vehicles and a bunch of a "Base to <Name>" transmissions.

That all seemed odd to me.

I hear at least 8 different users from my location using the freq. All walkie talkie type comms , including Breeze Air ground ops from Tweed New Haven Airport. (136.5 PL) Also some beach lifeguards from a local beach near me (DCS 371). And a marina around me which I am still trying to ID, no PL. The list goes on.

I do not hear that many - I just find it interesting that the focus is on Centereach FD however in 48hrs I cannot hear anything of FD on that frequency however I am hearing the GMRS discussion and then back today - I hear this business on it...

Consumer scanners don't have the best receivers, and their wide open front ends make them susceptible to IM and other forms of interference. Not sure an SDR is going to be much better, but being that it's in a different location and not hearing this may suggest the issue is local to the OP.

I believe you need to hit a certain post count before that goes away.

Yes the FD is not on that freq. He is just getting some sort of harmonic.

I deployed a remote SDR in centereach - it’s not that far - have a friend that let me put some stuff in their house.

I am. However. Intrigued by the FCC license stating the FD has something on the water tower in centereach. That seemed interesting.
