How come out of all of the 996s and 396s that the 325p2 does not cover 1240 - 1300mhz? It's the only scanner after the additions of that band that does NOT carry it.
Is this due to a bug during the production of these scanners? What's the reason?

Lower number, earlier model. The 325p2 came out in 2015. Means designed probably 2013 or 2014 and I can only guess that GHz band wasn't in use then.

But like I had just said, all of the 996s and their handheld counterparts except the 325s have that band. Even all the HP scanners have it too, and those were made before 2015 (except the SDSs). I don't know why specifically the 325 don't cover it when they should too.

That's uh, not at all how Uniden's model numbers work. Only the SDS100 is newer than the 325P2 in the handheld category.

As for the GHz band not being in use in 2015, also incorrect. Uniden scanners have featured that band going back to at least the early 2000s.

Uniden didn't add that band to that particular model for reasons known only to Uniden.

Only if we had Paul back, eh?

It could be marketing or it could be a difference (limitation) of the RX chip used.

In the x60 series the 260 has 1200 but the 160 does not. I believe that is due to components used.

Well if it has to do with marketing, what would be the reason for the consumer to not have it on their handheld but on the mobile?
And, what's the difference between the chips in the 996p2 and the 325p2 that would create that limit? I know the 396s were the exact copy of the mobile units but small enough to fit the palm of your hand. I don't know why they would use a different chipset between the 325 and the new 996s instead of making them like the last pair.

I wasn't privy to the details during that era. I merely said that is one possible cause.

I know marketing is the reason the 160/260 does not trunk or have Close Call. No sense making another 325/996P2 with a different model number.

I understand, I was just questioning the possibility.

Also, to sidetrack a bit. Why was close call never added to those units considering they are supposed to be an upgraded version of the 125?

Because they are not upgraded versions of the 125. (IOW, they do not replace the 125)

If CC was added, the next question would be: Why was trunking not added. Poof - 325
