Hello,
I am getting a message on readout of scanner that says charging error.I am using the wall charger that came with the BCD396T.The batteries are new NI-MH .The switch in the scanner is set properly for those batteries.Any ideas what is causing this ?

Thanks Russ

try new battery's , if they are fresh charging circuit maybe shot be careful with this as you may get an over charge and boil out the acid in your batterys into scanner is the battery area hot to the touch during charging

No idea why it would be doing that, but like others have suggested about charging batteries in a scanner...get a true charger. I use the one below with Eneloop batteries. They last about 10 hours or so. When one of the batteries start to not keep a charge, I just do a soft recycle and it's back like new.
