Often times I use my scanner while plugged into the wall using the stock supplied charging unit. Question - while scanning, is the battery actually charging at the same rate as if the radio was turned off? Or is the radio charging at a much reduced rate while I'm scanning?

This is right from UPMan on another thread about battery charging.

It charges at the same rate whether on or off, and regardless of the battery capacity or initial charge level. (Approx. 230 mA, IIRC).

I was speaking of a different model. I don't know the charge specs of the BC296D, but charge rate is likely lower (due to lower-capacity cells in the design).

I guess it doesn't matter in my case. But was curious as others with different radios were wondering about there units.
