Charlotte UASI

I was in Charlotte over the past weekend with my Uniden 436. I had the Charlotte UASI system programed in but never heard anything.

Are other members from the area able to listen and pick up traffic on this system.

Just briefly looking at the Charlotte UASI system in the database section of this website, it appears there are 6 sites for this system where all sites except the Moore County site indicate "simulcast". My best guess, since I am not in the Charlotte area, would be that you're not hearing anything due to "simulcast interference". If that is indeed the case, only a Uniden SDS-100 or SDS-200 will be able to overcome the "simulcast interference" unless you're directly under or very close to one of the site towers. Just a guess though.

Yes, it's true a Uniden SDS 100 or 200 is needed to properly monitor the Charlotte UASI system. That being said, my own experience with a Uniden BCD996XT was not a total loss. I was receiving SOME traffic on the UASI with the 996XT. I will speculate with a properly programmed 436 you should receive at least some traffic.

I had to sell my bcd436hp ,996xlt ,But my bcd536hp and my Home patrol work great now and most of my other scanner work great now that thy put in the new tower in Davidson . But I live in Davidson and I see the blinking light from the tower from my house .I had to get the sds100 and 200 before the tower was built . Now I can hear everything nice and clear agin . I have a Yagi Base Antenna hook to my bcd536hp and my sds200 and it works great and I have the Radio shack 800 band antenna hooked and the Remtronix REM-800B BNC 800 MHz hooked to my other scanner . I got the sds100 because of the simulcasting and I have been happy everyday that I got that scanner .
