Hello everyone

Here in The Hague I noticed this morning activity on 2420kHz which I have not heard before. I made a recording which I have saved in this Soundcloud album:

I tried to improve intelligibility in Davinci's Fairlight but it's tricky as there is not much to work with. Does anyone know who is normally broadcasting on 2420 kHz? Perhaps this is a regular occurrence. In case anyone is good at cleaning up audio feel free to have a go on the files.

Cheers
Philip

The mode is either Uppe rsideband or Lower sideband. There is an Amateur radio contest going on this weekend. I can make out CQ contest, CQ contest this is xxxxxx; probably giving the station's callsign. Your're probably getting bleedover from the 80mtr amateur radio band which falls between 3600KHz and 4000KHz for voice communications. Morse code and radioteletype/data modes fall between 3500KHz and 3600KHz.
The primary voice mode for 80mtrs is Lower sideband.
There is another amateur radio band that goes from 1800KHz to 2000KHz (160mtrs) with any mode being used that could be bleeding over also.

Hello Richard, thank you for replying. That must be it. Interestingly I hear nothing with or without SSB on the PL330 or the 7600G, but the little Qodosen picks it up quite well.

cheers
