Install of my radios in my 2005 Chevy Cobalt. I have had these radios in there for a while, and decided to post some pics.

Radio in center in Yaesu FT 7900, on left is Kenwood TK 7160 VHF for local fire/EMS communications. The antennas are Larsen NMO2/70 on left with trunk lip mount for the Yaesu, and center MaxRad VHF antenna.

The Kenwood probably wont be there long because our county is moving to the trunked statewide radio system later in the year. When that happens plan is to drill the 2m/70cm antenna on the roof

Both are connected with rigrunner 4005 using the Anderson power poles that I installed this past weekend. I still have some housekeeping to do with the wires in the trunk.

The Cobalt is not very friendly to radios, but it was fun putting them in.

Considering the amount of space in that vehicle, I'd say you did a fine job.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I'm wasn't too excited about the Kenwoods location under steering wheel, but like I said before that radio will be removed later on this year.
I may replace it with a digital scanner and put that where the stereo is. We'll see what happens.

Is the pics verry small, or should I get my eyes checked? ;-)

Looks like a great install!

Nice install. How do you like the Anderson power poles distribution unit? I'm considering using a one for the mobile install in my car. Any problems with it or words of wisdom?

Cheers,
Matt

So far I like it. I haven't encountered any problems with it yet. It was easy to install in the trunk out of the way. I used a fused power cable to the battery then a longer strand of zip cord to run to the rigrinner. I haven't had any problems with anything
