There is a military helicopter flying in the area, no Req or Type showing.
There is also a KC-135R/T thats been busy.

Post #135 had the first rice sighting!
I just watched a closeup of the balloon being shot down and I think it was with a missile as it looked like an explosion where bullets would have just punctured it. Right after it exploded an high altitude aircraft can be seen flying under it.

The US Coast Guard is diverting huge shipments of rice from the strategic stockpile to dip the payload in after it ditches at sea.
Anyone know what this plane is? Sniper?
One of 7 F-5s that were doing training before they were kicked out of the area by big kids with a ballon.
Flightradar24 shows it as a USMC F-5. I see some harriers flying up at Cherry Point on there so may be doing adversary work with them

All joking aside (yes, it WAS humor), they did this right. They didn't over react, the did the "diplomatic channels" thing, the waited until it was in the right location, and they took definitive action.
A very good display by the US Military how to act calmly and carefully. Making good decisions is important. People panicking never leads to good decisions.

All kidding aside (again) this was interesting to watch. I'd love to hear exactly how it was shot down and recovered.
Pentagon official has said F-22 from Langley and debris currently in 45 ft water, USCG AS65 helo C6565 doing search pattern in the area.

More indications of excellent planning. Even if it sinks before they can snag it, it's easily recoverable. Within US waters. Didn't risk landing on anyone. Made it clear that the US military has the capabilities to take these down if necessary. Also made it clear that they don't over react and get distracted by fear and hype. Having leadership that calmly make decisions is important to world stability.
