China most likely scoping out their new land purchases near ICBM sites. Keep an eye on their newly acquired prairie and farmland. Or is that Bill Gates?

The Pentagon says Chinese balloons have flown over the U.S. multiple times before and other peculiar incidents point to a much wider issue.

I dunno, but in the last few months there were quite some farms & substations going up in flames...

I mean if it walks like a duck, quaks like a duck, looks like a duck, sounds like a duck...

What the duck could it be?

Sounds like a hybrid duck to me, doing some SAMBA!

Ugly Duckling - A Little Samba

And yeah, here is a special song that JUST came to my mind...man, I don't know why...
Beastie Boys - SABOTAGE

No kind of encryption is going to save you from sabotage...'cos the CALL is coming from the inside.

As fans of the Yellowstone tv series both @Lauri-CoyoteFrostbite and I know how the Duttons would have handled this. :D

Yeppers, I'm with you and Lauri, somebody might even end up with a ride to the train station.

An interesting note, last night before I went to bed I did notice that there was an E3 orbiting near Oklahoma city. I would assume that's where the balloon was.

I remember watching some military show a long while ago that showed a way to pickup downed pilots by having a pilot inflate a balloon with helium and use a cable attached to a harness on them to raise the balloon up and using a aircraft with a “V” shaped attachment on the front that would fly over and snag the pilot and lift them in the air. You could probably use a similarly equipped aircraft to do the same with the balloon.
We used to that with photo reconnaissance satellites also. When we used film in satallites...

I wonder what the QSO card could look like if we used it as a scatter medium "Balloon Scatter".

Thanks
Joel

Any special reason it wasn't
Any special reason it wasn't destroyed as soon as it went over mainland Canada? After getting clearance from the environmentalists to dump garbage over the wilderness?

Thanks
Joel
I heard on MSM that Biden ordered it shot down but the military immediately walked that back and chose not to, citing possible damage to people on the ground. I would take all that with a grain of salt.

It went over Alaska first, it couldn't be done then?

Thanks

Wish I had a Oscar or satellite receiving installation. Be neat to try to decode its telemetry/communications signals back to CCP off it. Decrypt?

A little history, near the end of WW2, the Japanese launched bomb laden balloons over the pacific. When over USA, they would radio signal the balloon to drop its bomb payload. Our guys shot down many over Oregon and Washington but one got through all the way to Wisconsin. It never dropped its pay load and ran out of gas (helium/hydrogen) and fell to the earth.

Anybody think the balloon is carrying the latest iteration of COVID to disperse?

Actually, at least one of those balloons caused an explosion resulting in six deaths: In 1945, a Japanese Balloon Bomb Killed Six Americans, Five of Them Children, in Oregon
