Pending 800 mhz Trunked license (NEXEDGE48 or IDAS -- probably NEXEDGE48) for Cincinnati Reds

858.800 FB2
858.875 FB2
859.400 FB2
859.875 FB2
860.800 FB2

I find it odd that they went with an NEXEDGE48 or IDAS system. Of course there is no guarantee that the emissions on the license are the emissions that they will use. FB2 strikes me odd too, making me wonder if it's NEXEDGE48 Type D or IDAS rather than NEXEDGE48 Type C (with a constant control channel).

Time will tell

VEI Communications appear to be a Kenwood dealer.

I drive past the stadium several times a day so I'll put the frequencies in and keep an ear open.

Ok good deal. Not being from Cinci, I don't know if the stadium is used for all sorts of events or only for the Reds. So who knows when it will become active. It lists all FB2, which is odd. If it were NEXEDGE48 Type C there should be at least one FB8, and if it were Type D they should all be FB6. A Type-D system would be "LTR-like". I guess that theoretically they could all be conventional NXDN, but the license is a trunked license.

Anyway, good luck, and thanks for being on the lookout for future activity!

The FB8 station class is only used with VHF/UHF (150-512 MHz) trunking.

FB2 is the appropriate class for an 800 MHz trunking license. FB6 would only be used if the licensee planned to sell airtime to other eligible users which is unlikely in this case.

The last event a month or two back was Pete Rose's 14 hour memorial. The Reds offer concerts after a select few weekend games in season. However, I believe the Reds HOF Museum and Gift Shop are open year round. I would expect them to be on the system. Otherwise, activity won't pick up until sometime in March to get the field ready for the season.
