I'm going to post the V8 frequencies in the Australia forum since they'll probably be more useful there.

Just to get this thread back onto F1 at COTA (as we have the V8 thread that Jay911 setup for V8s now):

There are two F1 teams that you can still hear with an analogue scanner: Lotus and Toro Rosso. All others use a digital (encrypted) system: A propriety Kenwood system for McLaren and TETRA for everyone else. The FOM and FIA use TETRA also.

Lotus:
Most Lotus pitcrew comms are TETRA. But the pit-to-car link is still a simplex point to to point analogue radio system.
Search between 457-458MHz for pit-to-car, and 467-468Mhz for car-to-pit.
Kimi: pit to car
85.4hz pit-to-car: 457.55, 457.0125
79.7Hz car-to-pit: 467.55, 467.5375
Grosjean:
218.1Hz pit-to-car 457.675, 457.1125
250.3Hz car-to-pit 467.675, 467.9125

Toro Rosso
They continue to use a traditional analogue MRTC repeater system. Search between 164-166MHz for repeater outputs, 158-160MHz for inputs:

164.0375 D266 and 158.5125 D266 Ricciardo (or 164.625 & 158.625)
164.8500 D074 and 158.625 D074 Vergne (or 164.100 & 159.3625)
164.5500 D503 and 158.100 D503 STR Pit Channel 19
165.0125 D223 and 159.3625 STR Pit Channel 18 (or 164.5375 & 158.300)
152.250 D025 Pit Channel

Pirelli Tires
166.2125 & 172.2625 (D115) (or 166.2625)

I have some further information and details if anyone wants to PM me: I'm specifically interested in catching up with anyone who can post frequency updates for COTA in 2013.

Likewise for the WEC World Endurance Championship Le Mans race in Sept, I have an (almost) complete list of team frequencies and would be interested in exchanging info with anyone who will attend.

If these are the same teams that will be at what is/was called the American Le Mans Series in years past, please do share - I will be seeing them at Mosport in July.

Track announcement audio

I apologize in advance.. I don't have any radio frequency scanning gear.. however, I stumbled upon this thread when searching for a method of listening to the CotA audio that they blast through the speaker system; but through my headphones, instead..

Any time a car gets near, there's no way to hear the speakers in the stadium.. I'd really like to have the audio "in my ear", so to speak.. Does any one know of a way to do that? I wish they'd simply broadcast on an FM channel or something.

I'd even take an F1 broadcast audio stream off the internet, if that is available.. Just the audio, though.. video would be too much to handle out there on the cell bandwidth..

Thanks!

Many of the series stream the track announcer on the internet. That is the good thing. The bad thing is that the cell system data service was way overloaded last year. Upgrades have been going on at the track to help with the capacity of the system and several of the cell companies have added cell sites near the track.

807swr, I don't know about the others, but I specifically was talking about the crews that go on the track during a race incident - the corner workers, wreckers and safety trucks, the pace car, and the people "managing" them in the control tower, the ones who call out a yellow or red flag etc.

MOTOTRBO UHF, or landline for the for the fixed marshal post.

Hello,

I'm also interested in any information available about frequencies for the 2013 F1 race in Austin.

Last year, I had a scanner and was able to hear a few things with it, but it would be great to have a list of frequencies prior to the event.

Or perhaps those of us that are attending could post the frequencies we discover somewhere? Is there a standard way to do this?

Since Fanvision won't be available this year, I'm hoping there will be some other way to listen to the race broadcasts.

Thanks,

Alan

Hello. New to the scanning community and will be attending the upcoming Moto GP race at COTA in Austin next month. I've had older analog scanners in the past, but not much luck finding frequencies at this race track last year with it. Considering the purchase of Uniden's BCD396T.

My primary interest is just listening via headset to the PA/track announcers and any other open channels during race weekends. Assuming COTA does not scramble the track PA frequency specifically, would the BCD396T be a good scanner or any other recommendations?

Would be using the BCD396T at various race tracks around the US. COTA, Indianapolis 500, etc.

If anyone has found a working list of track frequency's at Circuit of America, can someone post here or PM me?

Thanks in advance.
