From what I've heard, the first one is the city's, and the second is the overlay.

Looks like one will be the city of Dallas' beginning of a bigger citywide system. Two will be part of the overlay for the 4 cvounty interop. (According to the attachments in the applications).

Radio techs testing today. They have an ISSI link to the DFW Airport 700 mhz system up and they can talk across the sites now. Some encryption has been used.

I have been running Pro96com on the DFW system while at work... Sounds like they are almost through initial testing... I have only seen 4 freqs active... Initially I saw 6 which makes me wonder about the 2 now dormant freqs.

ISSI Test TGs

I can help clarify ISSI test TGs. I'll mention this is the first ISSI link of its kind to ever go live, it came up around 9am Wednesday morning.

Final ISSI pre-testing is happening now in preparation for a full and formal test Monday 7/19 between 1-4. You'll hear some interesting traffic during those hours. We're doing a battery of tests, including pulling the link to simulate a backhoe fade.

There are the 5 pairs of talkgroups (I just saw someone already corrected, here are loaded names, anyway:)
51000-60020 -NCTESTA
51001-60021 NCTRG-A
51002-60022 NCTRG-B
51003-60023 NCTRG-C
51004-60024 NCTRG-D

TESTA is a test talkgroup only, obviously, other four are being tested to validate ISSI deployment but will be moved to (4) new NCTCOG RF sites this fall.

I'll be running the tests, maybe I'll shout out to y'all ;-)

Getting some test counts on id's 60020 & 60022, from the Dallas P25 "Florina" site, which was not, supposedly directly part of the overlay play. Not picking up a control channel right now from the other Dallas site. That should be "Dawson ST.", just east of Downtown. I'm well within range, maybe 6 miles max. Nothing on the 396XT or PSR500, roof antenna or R/S 800Mhz antenna.

Testing in progress now. For those with scanners that show radio IDs, the radio ID will show up on the system on which the radio is transmitting, but if you're listening to the other site (linked via ISSI), then the TG ID shows up as the Radio ID. For example, if a radio keys upon on the Tarrant side on talkgroup NCTRG-D1/50024 with a radio i1234, on the Dallas side, you will see Radio ID i60024 active, since the talkgroup being linked is NCTRG-D2/60024. At least that's how it's working on th Uniden XTs.

I watched the Harris video, the handheld shown looks soooo nice! I assume that dallas pd and fire will have to issue new radios to get this on line. Our xts 2500 won't do the job. So with these new radios I wonder if I work in dallas, can I just switch channels and monitor say dfw or arlington pd??or is more complicated than that?? if we just had to flip channels it would be awesome for chases! so damn tired of the phone call relay game!

Well, If they get radios that are 700 and 800 capable and they have agreements from the cities you mentioned and your higher ups approve and the radio shop is willing to program the systems in and.... Well you see where I am going. Short answer is yes with stipulations.
