I thought I would put this out. Would anyone be interested in starting a thread just to Clark County?

Let me know.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll be heading out to the strip in May and I am about to update my lineup in my Pro-96 from last year. Has there been any Astro heard on the trunked system yet? How about that new State system. Could you hear it in Vegas, and if so, what control channel is the best.

The only Astro I know of is out at Nellis, but I don't know if it is encrypted or not.
Yes, NSRS can be heard in Vegas. use the Sunrise mountain-Las Vegas site. There should be about 15 channels to that site.

Ok B.J. thanks for that info on the Sunrise site. I will add that to my Vegas lineup. The National Nuclear Security Administration trunked system on the following freqs are digital and I think I heard a couple of encrypted transmissions last year. The official system is the U.S. Department of Energy NNSA Nevada Test Site ,Bechtel Nevada

407.9500* 409.5000* 410.1250* 410.2500 410.7750*

Hello everyone. I'm glad we are getting some interest. Is anyone scanning the NHP.? If so, have they added any any new group ids to the trunk? All I seem to get is traffic on LV-1, which sounds like record checks only.

Currently, I am using the Sunrise Mountan frequencies, but I am having reception problems up here (215 + Town Center area) with my Pro-95. Would using different frequences help the reception?

As, usual, I am still looking for the Quality towing frequencies. There not listed on the FCC site so I assume their frequencies are leased.

Have a great day all.

Have you monitored any local SMR's? Tow companies in magor metro areas are using SMR's a LOT more than they used to, as well as cellhones, and Nexthell.

I know there are some problems in the 215 "trench". I have had troubles when I drive in that area in my car with a 780 and mag mount on the roof. I was searching through the Southern Nevada scanner directory, trying to save some of the info onto my computer. When I was typing some of them in tried out some of them that I might be able to hear. I was able to get the CC for the Hotel Rio site very well. One problem. Two of the frequencies listed are Control Channels, at least when I was playing with it. T4Win was giving me headaches, so I didn't really get into it, but here are the listed freqs in LCN:

855.7375
857.4375

858.2625
860.2375
855.2375
857.2625
859.4875
859.9875
860.4625
858.4875
855.2125
I have tried it a little bit, and I was able to follow some conversations. you might try it and see how they work for you.

Also I am told that the sites on Sloan were installed specifically for the 215 area. Someone foresaw problems for users trying to access a radio site 20 feet below grade on the west side, when the system is on the East side:
855.7375
857.4375
858.2625
860.2375
855.2375
866.8750
868.2375
868.5250
868.8000

PS the freqs in red were monitored as CC's when I was checking them out.

The Sloan site did the trick. I am picking up the NHP just fine. I recomend this site for anyone on the Southwest side of town.

I think the NHP has a new group id 08-004. Does anyone have more information on this id?

Have a great day all!

NHP Talk Group 08-004

This is used when a patch is active. During some transmissions you might see a total of three IDs' quickly come and go such as 05-121, 08-004, and 05-122.

when you are monitoring NHP on the sloan site, do you still hear all the crap from NV power? I would like to let the radio just sit and search, but I always get bogged down in NV power stuff, and give up.

thanks BJ

Searching On The NSRS For Ids'

If you are searching the NSRS in lieu of scanning for IDs' and using a BC 780 or 785 you can set the radio to search only for agency IDs' starting with 05 and this will exclude the annoying NV Power talk groups. All you need do is stop on the system and press 05 followed by the . key and then search. It will then search for only talk groups beginning with 05 and exclude the 08 normally associated with NV Power. If you stop the search and decide to resume it you will need to repeat the procedure. This is a great way to search for new agency IDs' for a specific agency code.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the hint, I had done that, but I didn't know how i did it. I thought the radio was acting funny or something. do you program that in as an ID, or do you type it in while scanning? I was mainly interested in searching the 08-XXX for more patches like 08-004 is, and NSRS for everything BUT NV power.

Speaking of Nevada Power, has anyone else noticed the shear amount of profanity that spews from the mouths of the power guys on i-calls? there is one guy who would make a sailor blush! I can't stand to listen to them anymore. the must think it is private like a telephone, but I know better.

Edgman
I also plugged in the frequencies for sloan, and I have noticed that it doesn't seem to carry all of the NHP traffic that I hear on the Sunrise site. Something is better than nothing though, and on Monday I will load them up into my 780 I have in my work van for when I am jamming up and down 215 on the west side.

Searching On The NSRS For Ids'

To search for agency IDs' simply go into scan mode while you are scanning talk group IDs' for a given system. Then press hold to stop on any talk group ID that you have programmed into the radio whether active or not. Then press the two numbers for the agency ID that you wish to search (example: NHP 05, UNLV 11). After that press the "." key followed by the search key. That is all there is to it.

Patches will come up automatically if they are in use so it is not necessary to search agency ID 08 for them.

Also, keep in mind that if you are listening to a given site especially a site other than Sunrise, if there is not a unit affiliated with that site when you are monitoring then that particular talk group ID will not be heard via that site.

However, let us say that a unit is transmitting on a particular talk group such as 05-123. There are times when that talk group is automatically patched to another such as 05-122 and you only hear it on 05-122 and there is no patch indicated. This is done for the dispatcher's benefit when he or she is handling traffic for more than one talk group at the same time. This way when one unit is active on any of the talk groups it will be heard on all the others that the dispatcher is responsbile for thus making easier to manage since two units cannot talk at once. This is most likely to happen after 2200 hours when one dispatcher in LVNHP will usually be handling two or more primary talk groups. The same happened on the old VHF TRS when it was up and running.

BJ, I'm using a Pro-95 and am able to lock out a specific talk group or a single group id. This scanner also has a feature to run the trunk in an open, you hear everything or closed, you only hear traffic on the group id's that you had programmed in the trunk. That was how a was able to ignore Nev. Power. But, since I recently reprogrammed the scanner, I didn't put in any Nev. Power ids.

For those of you who are up at night like me, the NDOT traffic picks up.

Also, the CAT bus system can get to be very entertaining at times. I have found it to be great for weather and road conditions.

I forgot to add this. The CAT bus system is not trunked. I obtained the freqs from the ever popular local scanning guide.

If anyone out there listens to the SNACC trunk, the guide has a great listing of all the group ids for that system, and there quite a few.
