Hey do you live in Clay County? Clay counties signals seem to be okay from where I am at in Southern Clay County. 800 does have issues in parts of Duval County.
From my experience, North of I-10, Clay County will come in splotchy on both. East of I-95 the 800 starts to drop off. Downtown may have too much RF interference as I usually dont hear very much if anything downtown. If you're in Northwest Jacksonville, Northside or beaches, I generally don't get anything. Vhf will work depending again on area of town and RF interference as well as weather.
Most of the Municipal and County calls for law enforcement, are dispatched via computer, unless they are of urgent nature, or are in progress calls.
Fire dispatches are vhf and are only simulcast of 800. They as well use computer for out of county status changes or where radios may have poor reception, or if radio traffic is extremely high on busy days.
That maybe why you arent hearing much. As for me, I just did a new system search and nothing popped up and I was hearing 800 trunked fine.
