A couple of keys are hard to depress. I was wondering what contacts you have to clean to get the keypad working better. I took it apart and removed the pad, now I need instructions on what do do and how to do it.

2. A few local frequncies that were normaly clear a re coming in weak with a lot of static. Does this mean the scanner needs realigned or what could it be ? I would appreciate any suggestions.

I cracked open the radio, and removed the front panel that includes the keypad. I cleaned the key contacts and the circuit board using contact cleaner and a Q tip. The keypad works like new. All the buttons are working fine now. If anybody has the same problem, I suggest doing this, it's better than replacing the keypad.

Sometimes thats not enough. The rubber membrane keypad contact stuff can wear off and may have to be reapplied. The stuff is about $20 at electronics supply houses
