While spending a weekend in Bloomington (and with an ice storm not allowing for a wide range of activities), I started looking at the ClearTalk Tier 3 system, which does not have much info in the database on it. Few observations from a limited time watching the system:
- Site numbers appear to follow the same locations as the Connect Plus system. I do not believe that every Con+ site has a corresponding TIII site yet, but there are some which are not (yet) listed in the database - and yes, I already submitted. Congerville is one of these, there is an active TIII site that is not listed.
- There is not much activity yet, but there is a fair amount of private data calls. I know Motorola boasts expanded features in their Capacity Max line, I'm assuming this is some kind of text messaging. I did catch one talkgroup in use on both the Congerville and Bloomington/Normal sites but could not confirm who uses it.
- Channel numbering appears to be the same across all sites, making it very easy to find frequencies that are missing. Channel spacing is 25 kHz.
- It appears the TIII sites use the same licenses as the Con+ sites, so if there are frequencies listed for a Con+ site that have never been heard in use they may be for the TIII site.
