Richee New Brunswick Police is a good example. Even though Site 8 is in the vicinity and even with signal from several other NJICS sites in the City such as 2,7,23,28,29 it was a no go. Recall they converted the UHF repeater and remote receivers and subscribers for encryption, yet the FD went NJICS. There are no standards and as a result true interoperability remains elusive as does true in building coverage. Forgettaboutit.

“E” is coming for them.

I saw someone very high in the ranks over the weekend and we got into conversation over the radio situation there. He said “pretty soon no one will be able listen to us anymore(PD).” Don’t know about Fire/EMS, but count on PD.
I hope not

I have spoken with various parties on this and the "concrete" has not even been poured never-mind even solidified yet. It's all on paper.
Also some of these same system "planners" for NJICS have indicated when they have mostly ALL public safety agencies (they can get state wide) on the system . Their intention then would be to throw the big "E" switch so everything on NJICS would "go dark" under the big "E".
Were just going to have to wait and see how things develop and are rolled out. According to the article, 6 to 8 months (Spring of 2020) is more than a half a year away. Things may change as to future talks groups whether they are indeed in the clear "e" or "E".:coffee:

Exactly. As my grandmother always said "whatever will be, will be". I always find it amusing that whenever someone asks about encryption, there is always someone that has to post that they "know someone high ranking" that has all the answers. Just to get everyone riled up....

Well before you accuse someone of “knowing someone high ranking” be sure they do/don’t. No offense dude, but you don’t know who I do or don’t know.

Not trying to get anyone “riled up.” You don’t have to believe me, but I did legitimately talk to someone who is high-ranking in the Police Department. Whether the information is right or wrong is not important to me. I’m simply stating what I heard.

Don't take it personally. I was just making a generalization. As a retired firefighter I know a lot of people too, but I don't bother posting what I hear on a forum. At the end of the day nobody really knows until it actually happens.
