• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello. A friend of mine I just talked to told me he has 2 CM200D radios.

I am just wondering what software I would need for it and what version of it will do the 25k spacing.

Also what cable I might need also.

Thanks

MOTOTRBO CPS, for some reason the part number doesn't show up in my MOL account but it's up to 12.1 Build 645 and the programming cable is PMKN4147A (USB to mic jack). I believe 11.0 is the earliest that would work with the CM200D.

You'll need HKVN4046A (free, after taking a course on MOL) to enable wideband programming or there is a software patch available on one of those other forums that'll work.

Ok thanks. So that 11.0 is the version I would need.

So I would need a software patch in order to get it to do the 25k spacing.

And that is the correct cable I would need and the only one that will work for this radio, it has to be usb, the other cable I would use to do other motorola radios ( COM Port to mic jack) won't work for this type of radio. Just seeing if it did then it would save me from getting another cable.

Thanks

11.0 would work if the radios were last written using that level but if they were written with one of the newer versions, you'll probably need them instead.

Yes, the new USB cable is the only one that works so far. I'd imagine they could be homebrewed but haven't looked into doing so.

Oh k whatever version I take at first will just have to try that and see if it reads it and if it does I am all good if not then will know I will need the other version.

Ok, so most likely the cable I would of been using to do all the other motorola radios would not work on this type of radio. Was hoping maybe it would, so all I would need is the program. But guess not.

Thanks

Need a different cable. Most DMR radios on the market set themselves up as network devices and not com ports (the radios actually have DHCP servers in them and will assign your computer an IP address).

Generally, you can homebrew the cables as they are just USB cables. It's been done with the rear accessory on the XPR line of radios (I've actually done this at a cost of $7). All you might need is to pin an old USB cable over to a RJ45 (I don't know if the CM200D uses the XPR accessory or the 16 pin accessory).

Ok will have to get that cable that KG4INW told me to get.

The radio's I might do are not his radio's, they are a companies radio's so not going to play around with that.

Thanks for the info.
