Just as a coincidence listening to the NCSHP Training Center Tower up here in Raleigh and heard traffic sounding like normal dispatches on Viper TG Davidson MA 1, TG 15003, with dispatch (RID 574994) send B23 to W Center St. It is listed as a patch on my scanner.

Interesting.....Looks like roaming rights for a County's VIPER MA TG still remain statewide.

Let hope everything goes back to normal when the riots/protesters leave thy went to tac because of that stupped app on the phone thy could hear everything that was going on .Thank God thy did not take away Medic and Fire at less we can still hear them. Thy did send some of them to a tac channel also . The police will need those tac channel for other thing soon .Thy don't have the money to encrypted dispatch or conf. That why Conf. is still active also Street Crime Team. Let hope some big storms will scare them all away . Thy need to go home and let use hear our police agin

Good news it seam like some stuff is back .Let hope thy bring everything back .

Based on what I'm seeing tracking the UASI system on the PC, all of the CMPD patrol divisions are still using the encrypted Tac channels iwth all the normal patches in place. I have still seen the use of conference channels, which are in the clear, but I think comms on those channels are very mundane. I guess we'll have to stay tuned (literally) to see what happens as things hopefully unwind in the coming days and weeks.

It been awhile now that thy have not open up now the police band .Thy never told use thy were going to encrypted the police band I know it a long shot but could we do a petition for them to open up the police band aging . We send it to the news channels then to the city . There is a lot of Charlotte people that have scanner out there we need to do something . If it not a good idea I understand . People have done this in other states and thy have open the police band .

First, they aren't required to give you notice of encryption. Secondly, they are not concerned with a lot of people who have scanners wanting to listen.

That said, if you were going to make any strides in this effort, I don't believe a petition would make any difference. I'd think to approach a sympathetic member of the county council and explain in this day and time police transparency is crucial to the public trusting the agencies. You can explain you understand there are a lot of issues that need to be encrypted, but routing dispatch channels should remain in the clear, both for public safety and transparency. Each agency has other options for encrypted traffic and you are not suggesting all encryption be prohibited. Ask the county/city councilperson to propose county legislation/policy stating in the interest of public safety and transparency that no county agency be allowed to encrypt routine channels.

Trying to sell the idea from the standpoint of this is our hobby isn't a valid argument. Just my opinion.

When this whole thing started that night in Metro division, CEU1 was patched with Metro division dispatch. I wouldn't be surprised if someone at CMPD was unhappy about their tactical ops being broadcast out over a broadcastify stream. You can argue that they shouldn't have patched CEU1 with a division dispatch talkgroup, but if there wasn't a public stream it wouldn't have been an issue, and frankly they shouldn't have to worry about that. I had hoped when things settled down that they would return to their normal talkgroups, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.
