coax interference

i have one of the xt roady XM radios. the antenna and power cables sit right next to each other. the kit came with a ferrite to put on each cable.
how do these work? should they be touching each other {wrapped completely in black tape.} ????I am having cut out issues . I remember
the old roady I had and it sucked. died soon after i bought it. Delphi
junk.Anybody recommend a good replacement antenna with thick cable??
any info app.

Did not know this was the XM forum but I'll take a stab...

You probably have your antenna in a poor location and that is causing the cutout. Where is it installed?
