I want to have coax coming in from a box outside to a wall plate on the inside with coax connectors on it so it looks clean. But, I can only find wall plates with TV F-type connectors. Will those connectors work for 50 ohm radio coax? Is there a better solution?

The F connector will pass RF. The trick is getting F connectors that fit 50Ω coax. Ideally, you'd want to avoid using adapters.

Easier solution is to get a blank faceplate and drill a hole to fit your coax or coax connector.

I make my own using blank plastic or stainless steel wall plates then mount one or two chassis mount double female connectors on it. On some occasions I've put a chassis mount female connector right on the coax then attached that to the wall plate.

For new installs I use these pop in frames to hold the wall plate, its much easier than installing an actual electrical box plus it gives you more room to bend coax inside the wall. Carlon 1-Gang Non-Metallic Low-Voltage Old Work Bracket SC100RR - The Home Depot
