From my phone it pops up when it comes in...for the record my xts2500 isnt stolen...

I didn't mean to suggest that it was.
That was just a random example.

As for the popping up on the phone part, getting notified is one thing but being able to drop everything and reply in under 2 minutes is remarkable. Especially from someone with a wife and 2 kids and pets and a job where you're out and about. How do you have time for it all? I'm impressed.

Well like I said, I didn't know you had a xts2500 with questionable origin but now that you've volunteered that information, that does sort of raise some eyebrows. (LOL) ;)

Concast and Douchenetwork would get in a bidding war to hire you if they were aware of how quickly you reply and are on the ready to answer any questions that customers may have. That is a very valuable skill. On second thought, you should go work for gwinnett 911. It's been taking them a while lately to answer the phone and when they do, they ask the same questions over and over.

I've heard that a switch to the new system is to start in January. May be having to something to do with all the new radio IDs I've been seeing on the KSU TG.

I still get a chuckle when public safety agencies claim that they can now talk SEAMLESSLY with other jurisdictions. When you've listened as long as I have, for the most part, you still hear what's referred to as "interoperability" handled much the same way it was decades ago when it wasn't possible, i.e., rather than use this SEAMLESS technology, a unit will contact the dispatcher and ask him/her to contact an adjoining jurisdiction to get additional information. If SEAMLESS really was SEAMLESS, you would hear more SEAMLESS!!!!!

Boy howdy, that's the truth!

"Dispatch can you tell Agency 2 to tell Chief Whatsisname to switch over to mutual aid 2?"

"Is that 'our' mutual aid or theirs?"

I've heard that a switch to the new system is to start in January. May be having to something to do with all the new radio IDs I've been seeing on the KSU TG.

The "new radio IDs" you have been seeing on the KSU PD talkgroups are either IDs originally issued to the Southern Polytechnic State University Police Department (SPSU PD) or new IDs in the range issued to KSU PD that have been programmed into the radios formerly used by SPSU PD. The former Southern Poly Campus is now Kennesaw State University's Marietta Campus because KSU started merging operations between the two campuses just prior to the first of the year. All calls for law enforcement services on the two campuses are being dispatched on the main KSU PD talkgroup and officers from the two campuses are being cross trained to become familiar with the layout of both campuses. The two talkgroups formerly used by SPSU PD have been renamed for special events or special operations occurring on the two campuses and will be assigned as needed. The patrol cars formerly used by SPSU PD still contain the SPSU PD markings, but these will be changed to the KSU PD markings in the near future.

Also, the "new IDs" that you have been seeing on the KSU TG have nothing to do with Cobb County replacing the radio system infrastructure with Phase 2 compliant equipment. KSU PD is still operating in the Phase 1 mode and probably will for some time like many other agencies operating on the system. Agencies operating on the system have been given until January 1, 2018 to have all of the existing Phase 1 only radios replaced with Phase 2 compliant equipment.

Hope this info helps.

Mike,

Are you hearing that some of this CCPD TG's have already migrated to Phase 2 ?

I'm not hearing any ZN 4 chatter...CCFD and EMT Companies seem to still be on the existing Phase 1 system.

Rick.

Let me know if I'm wrong on this, but it was my understanding that Cobb County will control 100% of the Phase II including all the radios.

What is the source of this information? We are a user on the system and were given totally different information that indicated a much earlier time frame, and procured phase 2 radios earlier in the year as a result of that information.

What about Forsyth County? Since they have "mutual aid" on the Cobb system, are they going to convert their system to Phase II as well?
