Coconino County Sheriff seems to have switched to P25 on 2 Adam. Listening today on155.835 I have not heard any analog. One dispatcher told a unit to change to digital since they were all on P25. I knew that they were working on a change over and looked at some of the new Harris radios. It seems to have occurred at this point. I heard that some repeater sites may stay analog, e.g. Baker Butte. We will see. I spoke to Sheriff Axlund at a recent meeting and inquired about the dreaded encryption and it seems that it is a possibility.

Thanks for flagging this -- I had not been tracking, and indeed it seems to have changed around 0800.

I have re-configured (and will watch for any encryption). Looks like 20xxx RIDs (with dispatch conveniently "911").

I just spoke to NILES Communications and they confirmed this but said one of the Flagstaff channels is still VHF.

UPDATE: The new P25 they are using is on the same VHF frequencies, but has gone digital P25. Encryption is also in the works, but not yet implemented.

I am having only intermittent success listening with my SDS200 (+ external antenna). My Unication G5 is a little better even with its internal VHF antenna. I am about 50 miles Line of Sight to Mt Elden which is an issue and will check further when I am in Flagstaff tomorrow. I have to drop off some fire dept. radios at Niles tomorrow and I'll see what more information I can glean.

Talk to Dave S. at Niles. He is who I spoke to.
