I understand you can't monitor an LTR system. I programmed in the Home Frequency for both the police department and fire department and I get traffic on those two frequencies. It is a pain in the neck though because the scanner keeps stopping on the frequency and you have to push scan each time to keep it moving. My question is, there are several other frequencies listed for other sites, announce, primary and secondary. I programmed the two home freq as CONV. Should I program in all the other frequencies as conventional as well? I wondering if that would get me more traffic to listen to.

Yes, You can program the other frequencies. One frequency will be for public works and those type of entities. The police and Fire depts should have a dedicated backup frequency for each of them also. I hope this helps. Too bad that the passport technology has not been released to the scanner manufacturers but I guess that would make it non appealing to the agencies that have them. I would also program the old conventional channels in. You never know when you may hear something on them.

Well, I think I'm done programming my pro197, but then I thought several times before this. I programmed the Collierville police home freq and 4 alternate sites. I do get traffic on all of them; the Collierville Fire home freq. Other than the constant stopping and pushing scan again I get of lot of transmissions. Not interested in Public works so I didn't put those in. I also programmed in Fayette County police and fire, Piperton police and fire, Rossville police and fire,. Germantown police and fire and police car to car,Bartlet police and fire, Marshal county, MS sheriffs office and fire, Byhalia, MS police and Fire and Holly Springs Police and Fire. I have it all a separate scan lists--Colliervile on #2, Piperton, Rossville and Fayette Country on #3, Germantown and Bartlett on #4 and Missippi on #5. I left the LTR trunked system on scan list #1--just in case it ever happens. Backed everything up in V01 folder. Any way , I am happy with the scanner and the amount of programming I've done. The scanner cost me $150 used, and the programming cable was $35. I've been using the free trial of Arc500 that came with the cable. Can't decide if I'm going to purchase the software and I can't decide if I'm going to subscribe to RR.
Anything else anyone can think of?

Collierville's system is an LTR Passport system, not a regular LTR system.

The best way is to program the frequencies as conventional with NO DELAY.

Thanks for your reply. I went back and set the delay to zero for these frequencies and what a difference. It works great. I get all the traffic I can listen to and no longer have to keep puching scan to keep it moving.
