Collinsville, IL - Code 9

I have been listening to my scanner for about 15 years now. I don't listen everyday anymore, but, I do listen.

There is some communications going on that I have been unable to make heads or tails of on the main channel of Collinsville, IL police.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this, but, cops and the dispatcher are always referring to "Code 9"

They do it for 10-27/29, 10-7, etc.

Does anyone here know what this refers to?

CODE 9

CODE 9 means the officer is secure and the dispatcher repeats it so all the officers here it.

I have been trying to figure that out forever. I figured it meant something
similar to that, because it is always being used, for lots of different calls.
