As I was listening to this, I was thinking. The battalion chief who was running the show (Battalion Chief 2, Jeff Loomis) was part of the special ops team (then known as SIRT, special incidents response team) several years ago. Units from Ellicott City (and, of course, other places) were alerted for a water rescue in downtown Ellicott City. At any rate, there were 2 people (car thiefs, as they car they were using was stolen) stuck on an island. Loomis was part of the entry team to go out and bring them to safety, but somehow (I don't know the exact situation), he was swept away and wound up losing consciousness. Needless to say, it was a frightning event for all those involved. Fortunately, Jeff lived to see another day and return to work.
