Are there any new developments pertaining to this?
I don't know. I have been trying to listen to the aircraft ops. So far there is no FAA TFR for this fire. I think they named it "Railroad South" but I don't see it online.
Anything local is probably on OKWIN. I can't reliably trunk track any OKWIN sites. I don't know if they are using any 700/800 MHz simplex channels or if there are any out of state or federal resources that would probably only be using VHF. Fort Sill has a trunked site immediately north of the fire that I can usually receive but I haven't heard anything on it. Their FD and MP are on OKWIN. I don't know if FSFD still has VHF.
I don't know how OK runs their state/federal forestry aircraft, where they are based or what frequencies are commonly used.
There is nothing about aircraft at
Forestry (Oklahoma) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference. I don't remember ever hearing anything on the air-to-ground frequencies at
Interoperability (Oklahoma) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference. I don't know if those are still good.
The aircraft talk to Burns Flat on the WMNWR repeater in post #1. One referred to it as the "Command". I can hear the repeater pretty well so it must be the one on Baker Peak. I don't know if it covers the Burns Flat area and airport at ground level.
I don't know if "Burns Flat" is a temporary incident-specific staging area there at whatever the latest name of the former Clinton-Sherman AFB is now, a permanent air tanker base there they use every year, or a state or federal dispatch center. They may also be using National Flight Following 168.650 simplex PL 110.9. I don't know if OK uses that or it was just the aircraft flying back and forth between OK and TX.
Yesterday some of the air tankers and air attack were going up there from the Ross fire south of me in Palo Pinto and Jack counties and air tankers from the base in Abilene.
I have no idea about property damage, causualties, evacuations, etc. The Wichita Falls/Lawton TV stations and newspaper web sites are basically useless most of the time and even worse on weekends.
