Tried to figure out which forum to post this under so digital won out. What is going on with Comjot? They cut the prices like they are going to dump the project or something. And just trying to sell off inventory. I have emailed them several times trying to ask a few questions and even went thru their web page and zero answers. Was thinking about giving them a try with the lower price but if this is the support it seems like it will be hard to figure them out. Bob with RFinder had kind of drop out of sight like Comjot was going to take over and yet now he is back trying to sell the RFinder stuff again.
Also heard they are going to start charging a monthly fee on the Comjot on Aug 1st 2025. I understand they have not been around too long but they need to get more info out there if they want to grow. Some have told me to try Facebook but I do not use that. Asked if they might have a discord or something like that and nobody has been able to help so I decided to ask here.

I’d be happy to clear up some of the confusion.

First, regarding pricing: ComJoT recently ran a limited-time promotional weekend to give more users access to the CJ-1 platform. It wasn't a fire sale or inventory dump — we’re very much alive and well. Sales coming in nearly every day. In fact, we’re gearing up for the launch of our next-generation model and wanted to introduce more folks to the ecosystem ahead of that.

As for support and communication: We had a temporary transition in our support system and response times suffered as we moved over to a ticket system on the Unified Radios Platform. This is now working great for our users.

The rumor about a mandatory monthly fee? Completely false. That originated from a misinformed YouTuber and has since been debunked. The Unified Radios software, which will continue to run at no cost to the ComJoT Radio Users.

Hope this helps. 73

Joe thank you for the info. Was having trouble getting info on this and after a couple of emails went un-answered I was not sure what was going on. On places like YouTube there is very little up to date info on what is going on with the project so was not sure what to do. Do you have a discord for this?

Rfinder has partnered with Unified radio and Yes, bob Greenburg is still working with them. As far as Comjot, My opinion wouldn't be helpful there.

Interesting that five days ago Joe posted in this thread, with the last line being: The rumor about a mandatory monthly fee? Completely false. That originated from a misinformed YouTuber and has since been debunked. The Unified Radios software, which will continue to run at no cost to the ComJoT Radio Users.

Yet, this just popped up in my profile on Unified Radios. I literally just got the radio on Thursday so it's not like I have been a longtime user. I am not opposed to paying a fee, but honesty=integrity. After the conversation I had with him today, I am very surprised.

So there's NOT a 12.99 fee for the Unified database updates ?

Looks like it will be a $5 a month fee, but that is a deal if you jump in now. Even after Joe said they would not be charging. Emailed with several hams and none have had a good experience with Comjot. And I have done a lot of searching and you really can not find much info out there about how things are going with the project. One guy received his CJ-1 with no emails about his order, it showed up several weeks later. And when he did get it he says the ROM was not even loaded. He could not figure it out so he sold it. Not sure if he told the buyer the issues before he sold it cheap. Almost ordered one during the sale, looks like I'm glad I didn't do it. Explains why there was some up for sale last month. Guys knew what was coming and tried to get some money back.

So would somebody that owns a Comjot tell us what you would lose if you do not pay their monthly or yearly price? Guessing most anything that come thru from Unified radio. Now it is suppose to be open source. Is anybody else developing anything to work on the Comjot or are you stuck with Unified radio apps?

If you own a comjot device you don't need to pay the fee. that's only for rfinder devices. i have a cj1 and there is no fee. however i had a terrible experience buying a Tait radio from them and I would avoid buying anything from them.

I know with the RFinder they always had a service you had to pay for, but it was something like $15 a year. If I remember right that was to use the repeater data to program the radio. Does the Comjot let you do this without paying a fee?

There is supposed to be no fee with a comjot radio.. but it mine shows unsubscribed. It looks like other people are having the same issue, but questions and criticisms are quickly deleted from the facebook groups.

I was able to verify it is free forever if you have the comjot radio. It will say expired on the portal but that doesn't matter if you are using the comjot radio.

CJ1 says not subscribed aswell as unified platform but it works fine no features lost for Comjot users. By the way I am that mis-informed youtuber. I was not mis informed, I was working on my video and happened to see a banner that the service would soon cost money. Comjot did Damage Control by working out a free deal for their devices. The pinned comment on my video addresses a few things that Joe emailed me directly about after my video went out. However, I have still not found a rooted rom and have had some measure of problem doing it myself. I still months later have not received my speaker mic from them. I was linked a github repo for someone that was working to build a fully open source and self hosted radio app, but that repo is gone. The company is heading in the right direction but a lot of their actions are responsive and defensive, not proactive. I do think they care about the product but its just not open enough and I have yet to find another app as an alternative to Unified Radios. I still like my radio though I havent been carrying it lately. I have a nice big server rack I occasionally make videos about. Id be happy to self host a gateway for radio over ip to never even consider a subscription. I havent checked facebook in a long time but as another user pointed out, they have been picky about certain posts that wont get approved to post if they aren't liked by the admins. the best thing for this product would be a talented developer taking what little documentation there is about the radio module and building a fully opensource platform.
