I know with the RFinder they always had a service you had to pay for, but it was something like $15 a year. If I remember right that was to use the repeater data to program the radio. Does the Comjot let you do this without paying a fee?
Not only a fee, but they, RFinder, also whole sale, stole all of Repeater books data. I had a whole write up on how I was able to confirm it. I'm not sad it's all crashed down. Couldn't have happened to a better person.

Wow, Sad somebody has done this to fellow hams. Being an LLC it will not hurt him and his wife, they will just move on to the next deal to screw others. I hope maybe somebody can take over the software side of this and make something out of it. Not sure how many units they sold but the idea was nice. Glad I sold my CJ 1 a year ago now when it was still worth at least a little bit. Unless somebody can do something with the software they are only going to be good as a paper weight

You have to pay now, but the software works great on the CJ1 and old rfinder radios.

I had also place an order with them. Kept asking about the status of my order, kept getting told that it was on order from the manufacturer, it will be a couple of weeks. Eventually he stopped responding. Told him that I would dispute the credit card charges, and he did not respond. CC company reversed the charges no problem.

I have been working over the past few weeks getting the CJ1 in a state that I was thinking the product would have moved towards - actually open source ready. I have rewritten both the software and radio module firmware, upgraded the OS to LineageOS (actually de-googled and better memory utilization) and gotten what I believe to be basic features (like channel scanning) working. The new app has a built-in TCP KISS TNC and packet mod/demod support (so WoAD and APRSDroid work). To top it off, the radio hardware is capable of P25 and my unit has Analog FM, DMR Tier II and P25 Phase I implemented (still need to run some repeater tests, but bench tests show simplex works). My question to the community: Is this the direction that you all were hoping this radio would go? I ask because I am try to guage whether or not there is interest in a radio like the CJ1, just more fully featured, extensible and not requiring a subscription service for basic factory radio functionality.

The list of my current app features is quite extensive and may not be appropriate to post in this thread, but if there's interest I can see about creating a separate thread for discussion.

Had the CJ1 and was unhappy that is did not work with TGIF. I use that network the most so that was a no go. It worked for a bit then stopped. Talked to the guy that did a lot of tech support for both the RFinder and the CJ-1 and he did not know how to make it work
