Hello everyone,
I figured I would post an updated CP profile before my radio time is limited by an addition to the family in August.
See the old shack here: http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27159

Radios:
Optocom run on an old 400Mhz Dell. (monitor everything on this one)
2005 modified to the hilt including the intenal Optoelectronics card. Mostly VHF and Aero (Acars and voice)
BC785D for Federal and TRS monitoring
BC780 for conventional monitoring, primarily VHF and Mil-air
BC250 for Wilmington City and travel use
BC396 For State TRS and mobile use
Pro2026 is for data decoding (4 level slicer installed) primarily Unitrunker
EFJohnson Multinet II RX only portable for Chester County monitoring.
Sony 2010 for SWL, mostly USCG and GHFS
Moto HT1250 for RX only on some UHF freq's

Outdoor Antennas:
506 10dB Yagi (on a rotor)
866 13db Yagi (on a rotor)
860 10dB Yagi
Diamond 130 VHF Discone
160Mhz 6dB Yagi (On a rotor)
Neveda Multiband (hidden behind chimney in pix)

Indoor antennas
412 6dB Yagi (on rotor)
935 12dB Yagi (on rotor)
460Mhz 6dB groundplane
RS Discone cut for Mil-Air band
70' horizontal dipole along the attic peak for HF monitoring

4 digital controllers are located below the main monitor.

Cable:
Belden 9913F7 or LMR400 for the roof antennas.
Belden 1694A on the indoor antennas and runs from the patch bay to the radios.

Radio Software:
ARC 250, 396, Spectrum Commander
The usual trunker, Acars and decoding type programs mostly on the 2 older Dell's .

A unique feature is my antenna patch bay which is an old (Read: quality) video patch
which all radios and antennas usually run thru unless I need that 2dB (which I lose thru the extra connectors) back for distant monitoring.

It is located in the open cabinet next to the white PC tower. All radios have a "Normalled"
antenna connection but with the use of a cord I can route any antenna to any radio quickly.
I also have combiners splitters and attenuators that may be patched in as needed.

The unseen is a pair of 12v backup batteries, a Grove 5A pre-amp and an elaborate grounding system using 1/0 from the shack to the outside (ground rod farm) with ground rods under the house along the way. All radios, PC's and connectors on the antenna patch bay are individually grounded. 2AWG to all antennas and masts.

Current monitoring radius is about 70 miles with my 230' ASL altitude.

Dave

That is one of the nicest setups I've seen on here. Impressive attention to detail!

One word. Damn!!

Question, what are those 4 things with the red looking display and labelled? Under the center computer monitor?

See a /\/\ pager (i think) by the monitor. PDA too!

Would you believe that I have the exact same desk several thousand miles away (How ever far Iraq is from Coastal NC) but I dont have as impressive of a setup. Yours is much neater and nicer.

Excellent Setup

The 4 things under the monitor are my rotor controllers. with their antenna labels.
Channel master makes them.

It came from Staples a few years ago. No sure if they still carry them.

Where did the desk come from? I need one of them for the 'command post' I'm about to set up.

I really like your setup very neat and organized. I am in envy, I also use a PRo-2026 in my shack. I have had it a many years, it is a great radio.

Very good looking setup! I am curious about the Radio shack discone that is cut for milair freqs. Did you see a improvement by cutting the antenna? I would like to know the dimensions for cutting the antenna. I have a old radio shack discone just sitting here.

Hello,
I did notice a little improvement but not dramatic. Maybe 2 dB more signal over the VHF

For 310Mhz the radials are 10.5", the top elements are 7.4".

I love the 2026, It sometimes gets pressed into VHF service as it's sensitivity is better than any radio I own.
