Just wondering because I have not seen much in the ways of talking about computer control with this device. Can you log or trunk track with this radio.

IE: plug it in and let it monitor systems, then log it to a computer so you do'nt have to sit around and listen all the time.

It may have been already covered but I would love to know. Thanks in advance. I know the BCD396T does and i'm trying to decide between the two radios.

Only remote operation is available at this time. No logging yet.

Note the VC on left of display - this changes to CC during no coms.

He also has the choice of using Pro96Com, although it only supports 9600cc systems at this time. Mike V. is planning to add support for other types in the future.

Yeah computer control is all right now. In the near future though I can see people developing software that logs and everything.

problem with "blue" interface cable

To my great dismay I have found that my system does not seem to notice that the blue GRE interface cable is connected. Win500 runs normally when set to COM3 for downloads, but sits idle and the LED's do not light on the interface cable. The PSR-500 does not even notice that the cable is plugged in to the PC/IF port.

I would suspect that I lack the right drivers, and have obtained what should be the correct ones from GRE's website, but there's no information on how or where to install them now that I have them. The Windows hardware wizard does not notice the USB cable when set to scan for the cable.

Perhaps someone can tell me where to put these drivers and how to put them there now that I have them. Can anyone be of assistance?

chankel,

The cable can be plugged into the PC/IF jack and the scanner will operate normally. When you use software to Down/Up load data, the lights on the cable circuit will function accordingly and the scanner will be either receiving/sending data. Then the scanner will reboot and work normally even with the cable plugged in.

Uhh....that wasn't really what I was concerned about. The computer and the scanner won't talk to each other via the cable. The system shows an error and will not initialize or proceed. Specifically "02 received (expected ACK) - folder - 1" is displayed when using the Virtual Scanner option and when using download the system simply sits there and says "receiving data" without doing so.

It was actually a COM Port issue rather than a driver or cable issue. Once the correct COM (10) was lined up it seemed to get the cable working and LED's flashing. Perhaps it will work now...

The PC and Scanner talk by insuring a comport match. What does this have to do with V-Scanner?
